the Friary - Working locally to end homelessness
The Friary is a West Bridgford based charity set up to help rough sleepers and the homeless in Nottingham, we meet many who have very local Rushcliffe connections.
There are many reasons why people fall on hard times and each person’s story is unique. Sometimes the road to homelessness begins with a broken relationship, loss of employment, poor health or all of these. Coping with life’s challenges for many revolves around support from family & friends but for others this is not an option. Entrenched rough sleeping can lead to other complications such as drug taking or alcoholism which in turn can trigger mental health problems, making it harder to return to society.
The Friary is a free service to anyone in need who walks through the door at the Drop-in and often the life-line people have been looking for.
We provide practical help: shower, clean clothes, food & water, advice about welfare benefits and access to emergency housing and just as importantly time to chat with people to understand their situation and help them realise there is a future.

How can you help?
The Friary needs your help to continue offering our homeless friends a caring and safe place for them to come. The Friary does not receive government funding but relies on the generosity of our business leaders and the local community.
Together we all share in the fight to end homelessness.
“There’s no place like home.”
We need your help!
Help us continue to help the homeless.
Every pound raised will go to providing a hot meal, shelter and hope to those who are struggling on the streets with homelessness, poverty, addiction and mental illness.
Your generosity is helping change the lives of the homeless.
“We can’t help everyone but everyone can help someone”.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Donating to The Giving Wall
Here’s how it works. Each Giving Wall ticket is numbered from 1 to 200. When you purchase a ticket you donate the number on the ticket in £ value. So if you choose ticket 25, you donate £25, ticket 1 you donate £1 and ticket 200 you donate £200 etc…
